Patrick Hayes is a strong communicator, great with both children and adults, and has such a sweet, kind spirit. A natural teacher! He is senior at the University of North Texas pursuing a degree in Viola Performance under Dr. Susan Dubois.
At UNT, Patrick is a recipient of the Undergraduate String Quartet Scholarship, a full-tuition four-year chamber music scholarship. Through this program, Hayes has played as the violist in the Frieden Quartet. The quartet has been a finalist in national competitions including the Coltman and MTNA chamber music competitions. The group has also had masterclasses with the Verona quartet, New Zealand Quartet, the Ivalas Quartet, and the Arianna Quartet. They have been coached by esteemed faculty including Julia Bushkova, Dr. Susan Dubois, the late Eugene Osadchy, Annie Fullard, and Harumi Rhodes.
Individually, Hayes has also played and served as principal violist for the sections of UNT’s Concert Orchestra and Opera orchestra. Hayes also is involved in UNT’s Early Music Program and works closely with director Paul Leenhouts and private teacher Cynthia Roberts. As a Baroque violist, Hayes has worked with the Dallas Bach Society and has served as principal violist in the UNT Baroque Orchestra.
Patrick enjoys teaching and loves helping his students reach for their potential.
