Yi Liu has performed at concert halls in Boston, Colorado, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Salzburg, Texas, as both solo and collaborative pianist. He was the first prize recipient of competitions including the International Keyboard Odyssiad in 2019, the UNT Concerto Competition in 2020, and the Isabel Scionti Piano Competition in 2021. He performed in the Mozart 150th Memorial Concert Series at Shanghai Symphony Hall and performed in the Beethoven 250th Celebration Series Concerts at Murchison Performing Arts Center Winspear Performance Hall. His chamber group “Fenway Quartet” won the Second Prize in the 2017 Chamber Music Division of the 4th ENKOR International Music Competition. Both his solo and chamber music recordings were posted on the classical mucsic Facebook channel “Le Salon de la Musique’‘. Musicians he worked with includes Caleb Hudson, Fedor Malykhin, Hengjian Su, Jin Zhou, Kimberly Cole Luevano, Isaac Kim, Katie Lansdale, Lila Brown, Minju Lee, Nathaniel Taylor, Qi Wang, Rhonda Rider, Yu-hong Sun, Zoltan Csikos, et. His principal teachers include Adam Wodnicki, Cheung-Yu Mo, Yi-Qiang Sun, Zhen-Yu Dong, and Ya-Fei Chuang, with whom he also attended the prestigious Salzburg Mozarteum International Summer Music Festival with a scholarship in 2016. Yi is currently pursuing his Doctor of Music Arts and teaching at the University of North Texas College of Music. He leads the UNT Center Piano Trio, and he is the founder of the Temeraire Piano Trio.
