Alexandra Gorman is a Cuban-American operatic soprano who holds a master’s degree in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy from the University of Houston Moores School of Music. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas.
Alexandra has performed in many operas, operettas, musicals, and concerts all over the United States. Previously performed operatic roles include Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Cesare, Rosina in Mozart’s La finta semplice, and Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Other highlights include Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte as well as covering the role of Ilia in Mozart's Idomeneo. In addition to her operatic experience, Alexandra has performed many roles in the genres of operetta and musical theatre. She has sung many of the leading ladies of Gilbert & Sullivan's operettas including Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Gianetta in The Gondoliers, Rose Maybud in Ruddigore, Phyllis in Iolanthe, and Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore. Alexandra has also performed the roles of Anne in Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Johanna in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. In concert, Alexandra has performed as a soloist in Purcell’s Hail, Bright Cecilia, Bach's BWV 3, and Vivaldi's Magnificat. She also sang the role of Lieschen in Bach’s Kaffeekantate as well as the soprano solo in Handel’s Messiah. Alexandra has sung with the Dallas Opera, Ars Lyrica Houston, Mercury Chamber Orchestra, Opera NEO, Cimarron Opera, Enid Symphony, and Red River Lyric Opera.
As a voice teacher, Alexandra maintains a supportive, nurturing, and fun studio environment for singers of all ages that allows maximum vocal growth, continuous learning, and confidence building for both on and off the stage. In addition to advancing your vocal technique, Alexandra’s students can improve their acting and stage presence as well as language diction in Italian, French, English, German, and Spanish. She provides audition preparation coachings for operas, musicals, All-State Choir, competitions/contests, and university auditions. Alexandra also offers ear training and sight-singing lessons for both vocalists and pianists. Repertoire sung in the studio includes many genres including classical, folk, musical theatre, pop, and Disney!
