Laura McAllaster

Ms. Laura comes with a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from SMU and has been teaching music and piano for over 25 years. She served on the faculty at Augustana University as Master Teacher where she taught in the preparatory department, taught university students and mentored undergraduates including Ms. Kristin! She was on the faculty at Dallas/Music then at SMU, she was the Class Piano Coordinator where she taught piano to music majors, advised graduate students and taught in the continuing education department. Since being an undergraduate at Texas Tech, she has taught pre-college students through her own studio. Additionally, she is a Certified Music Together instructor and was a director of her own center when her son was young. Helping students understand theory is important to Ms. Laura and she even wrote the state theory tests for all 12 levels several years ago. Recently, she has been writing her own music and enjoys creating her own teaching materials.

Laura is a wonderful mom to two great kids, and her warm, fun personality is loved by all of her students!
